Transform Your Piano Teaching with Orff & Whole Body Learning

Introducing a workshop combining the new AMEB Series 18 Piano Syllabus and the Orff Schulwerk and Whole Body Learning approach to Music Education. Explore new strategies for teaching piano using the Orff-Schulwerk & Whole Body Learning using the brand new AMEB Series 18 Piano Syllabus. Take away tips on how to use these approaches with any repertoire or method book.

This one-day course to be held on Sunday 31 March 10am-5pm will offer you (and your students) the opportunity to achieve more musical performances, enhanced learning, better memory as well as improving exam results.

You’ll be amazed how much fun you’ll have trying out these new teaching strategies and so will your easily distracted, screen driven students of today!

During each practical, hands-on session, presenters Susan Head and Paul Myatt will apply Orff-Schulwerk and Whole Body Learning approaches (to music education) to piano teaching. The knowledge embodied in multi-sensory activities provides a rich learning environment for students as well as being fun.

In this workshop you will:

• Have FUN learning and experiencing the Orff approach and Whole Body Learning.

• Learn how to teach up to 3 pieces from Preliminary to Grade 4 of the AMEB Series 18 Piano Syllabus using the Orff Approach and Whole Body Learning.

• Learn new “off the bench” activities that can easily be transferred back to the keyboard.

• Integrate the AMEB tests of Aural and Sight Reading as well as General Knowledge.

• Explore apps and other technologies that will enhance your students learning and practising outcomes.

• Take away a list of resources and online content that will continue to assist your teaching.

Participants will receive:
• A booklet of detailed teaching ideas and notes for pieces from Preliminary to Grade 4 of the new Series 18 Piano Syllabus. We will send you a link to the material prior to the workshop. You will need to download and bring it on the day (printed or on a device).

• Access to specifically created backing tracks for selected pieces in the repertoire
• “Scale Hacks” to make learning scales and technical work easier
• Printable resources for a range of teaching activities to enhance learning through the use of multiple senses
• Links to quality YouTube recordings
• Links for APPS which work well for many students in lessons and in their home
