KIDS AT THE CON

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer trial classes?

We do not offer trial classes for Kids at the Con programs. However, many families have found our holiday workshops are a great way to sample our classes before enrolling in a term. Please join our mailing list to be notified of Holiday workshop dates.

Can I join a waiting list?

Due to the popularity of the program, we do not offer waiting lists. All enrolment occurs on a first-come, first-served basis via our website on specific enrolment date. Please join our mailing list to be the first to be notified when classes are on sale.

If my child’s age spans two class options which should I choose?
It can vary slightly depending on each child but the general rule of thumb to apply is dependent on their age at the first lesson:
If your child is:
3 years old they should join Red class
4 years old they should join Orange class
5 years old they should join Orange if they have not yet started school and Yellow if they are already at school.
6 years old and in Kindergarten at school they should join Yellow, 6 year olds in Year 1 should join Green class.
7 years old and in Year 1 they should join Green class. If they are 7 years old and in Year 2 they should join Blue class
8-10 years old they should join Blue class

How do I know when my child should move up a level?

Students enrol for 8 weeks (a term) of teaching. The class teachers will make recommendations before priority enrolment as to whether a child should stay in that class or move to a new class. This recommendation is based on the students' progress in the class.

Do I need to attend the class with my child?

Parents/guardians of students in the Red or Orange class are encouraged to remain in the classroom with their child. For all other classes, parents/guardians may not remain in the classroom unless express permission is given by the class teacher. Permission will only be given in exceptional circumstances.

In general, children under 12 years of age should be accompanied by a parent/guardian who must remain on-site at the Conservatorium whilst the child is on the premises.

Are there any discounts available?
