Short Courses

The Conservatorium Open Academy’s flagship community education program provides adults and life-long learners with entertaining, challenging and inspiring ways into the world of music and the Sydney Conservatorium’s vibrant culture.

The program offers many short courses designed to give adults the skills and knowledge to pursue their musical interests, curiosity or to find a creative outlet for their talents in a collaborative group learning environment catering for beginners right through to experienced musicians.

Custom Courses

From time to time choirs or other music groups in the community approach us for a private course. If you have a group for whom you would like us to run a private course, please get in touch at our contact page. We’d love to arrange it for you.

Just include contact details, a bit about your group and which of our classes you are interested in and we will try and arrange a class just for you.

Benefits

All courses are held in the state-of-the-art facilities of the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Macquarie St. Students enjoy unique bonuses when joining one of the Academy’s courses:

  • membership of the Conservatorium’s extensive music library for the term.
  • many free or discounted tickets to Conservatorium concerts.

A 15% discount on fees for Short Courses is available for: pensioners, Health Care Card holders, University of Sydney students and staff and Friends of The Con. This discount may not be combined with any other discounts.

A 12% Early Bird discount applies for enrolment up to 3 weeks before the start of each term. This discount may not be combined with any other discounts.

2018 TERM DATES

  • Summer: Mon 5 Feb to Thu 29 March (8 weeks)
  • Autumn: Mon 30 Apr to Mon 25 Jun (8 weeks) NB. Monday classes will conclude on Monday 25 June due to public holiday
  • Winter: Mon 23 Jul to Thur 13 Sep (8 weeks)
  • Spring: Mon 15 Oct to Thur 7 Dec (8 weeks)
