Jazz Ensembles - Audition

These classes are designed for students who wish to develop confident improvisation, aural and sight reading skills. They provide an ensemble-based environment for the development of personal jazz skills, along with an understanding of the dynamics at work in a small performance group. THIS IS A LIVE AUDITION
JAZZ ENSEMBLES COMMENCE ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

Monday 12 October - 6.30-8.30pm (tutor – Andrew Dickeson)
Tuesday 13 October – 6-8pm (tutor – Ron Philpott)
Wednesday 14 October – 6-8pm (tutor – Hannah James)

The fee for the 8 week term is $495. If you enrol for an audition by 21 September, you will only pay the Early Bird rate of $435.60 for the term (12% discount), providing you are successful at audition. If you are a full time student or hold a current pension/healthcare card you are eligible for a 15% discount. You can enter your ID number at checkout to receive this discount. PLEASE NOTE: We will only audition positions that are vacant. Current students have first option to re-enrol. We will inform you if there are no spots available to audition for asap and refund your audition fee.

Entry level: Must be able to read music, have an understanding of how to construct chords, and an understanding of the major and minor scales and keys. Suggested minimum: Music Fundamentals 3 or equivalent.

This is an FACE TO FACE class in the Conservatorium building
Entry Requirements: Intermediate level players with some existing jazz playing experience. Knowledge of major scales, key signatures and some jazz chords is required.
Students will need to bring their own guitar and lead. Amplifiers will be provided. Acoustic guitar is also welcome.

Jazz Harmony 2

Jazz Harmony 2 builds on concepts presented in Jazz Harmony 1. This course will discuss the Blues form, minor key harmony (in depth), guide tone lines, voice leading and diminished chord patterns and scales.
