Jazz Piano: First Steps Level 1

Aimed at the pianist who is a beginner to Jazz, this course offers students an introduction to jazz harmony, rhythm and improvisation.  Over the course of 8 weeks students will further develop their technical ability, performance skills and music theory knowledge through playing classic jazz tunes. This course is designed for musicians with no background in improvisation. You will need some basic level of understanding how to read music and chord charts. Jazz Piano: First Steps Level 2

Students will be extending the knowledge and skills that they gained in the Jazz Piano 1st Steps level 1 course.  By studying classic jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook and by many of the jazz masters, students will develop a deeper understanding of jazz harmony as well as melodies and rhythms unique to the jazz idiom. Jazz Harmony 1

Jazz Harmony focuses on the study of chords and their relationship with each other. This class will review some fundamental harmonic concepts before exploring major and minor scale harmony in depth. Contemporary Vocal Studio - Audition

A short audition will be conducted for this course.  You will need to enrol for the audition. Please prepare A verse and a chorus from 2 contrasting songs (e.g. a ballad and an up-tempo song) to be sung a cappella. Some vocal exercises will also be given on the day.
