Competitions

The Australian Flute Festival is running 4 competitions as part of the 2025 Festival:

Australian International Flute Competition - 32 years and under
Closing date: 11.59pm, Friday 20th June 2025

Young Artist Competition - 18 years and under
Closing date: 11.59pm, Friday 20th June 2025

Piccolo Competition - 32 years and under
Closing date: 11.59pm, Friday 20th June 2025

Flute Quartet and Trio Competition - all ages
Closing date: 11.59pm, Friday 15th August 2025

All age limits are based on the entrant’s age as at Friday 3 October, 2025.

Please note: entrants under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult. If the entrant is attending the full festival or a whole day of festival activities, the accompanying adult can purchase a special Parent/Guardian pass for $90 for the full festival or $50 for a single day when purchasing their child’s festival pass. If the entrant is not attending the festival aside from the competition, the accompanying adult can simply purchase a single-event ticket to cover the supervisory requirement, as per the Audience Information section below.

Audience Information

The Finals for each competition will be open to the public.

Festival delegates holding a Full Festival pass, Saturday pass or Sunday pass will be granted entry to the corresponding competition finals should they wish to watch.

Individuals who are not attending a whole day of festival activities will be able to purchase single tickets to watch any of the competition finals for $30 standard rate or $20 concession.
