Llew plays plucked strings: guitars and medieval/ethnic long and short necked lutes.
His ukulele recording debut was for the Universal Films “Babe – Pig in the City” and since then he has recorded ukulele for several motion pictures, the most significant of which was the Percy Grainger biopic “Passion” where he was also instrumental tutor and on-set advisor for Richard Roxburgh and Barbara Herschey.
Llew is best known for his work with dual ARIA award winning Mara! Group, having performed in 20+ countries on more than 30 international tours over the last 35 years and recorded 8 albums.
Llew appears on more than 60 CDs as a performer, and has produced more than 50 more for a range of Australian a capella, early, classical, folk and world music ensembles and solo artists. 7 of these productions have been ARIA nominees. Llew’s theatre composition and performance clients range from Bell Shakespeare to Meryl Tankard.
Llew teaches guitar, mandolin and ukulele for the Open Academy’s Play at the Con program.
