Dr Nicholas Ng is a composer, performer and Associate Lecturer at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He is interested in discovering new ways to connect with the ancient past through traditional and contemporary sound. Heard on ABC radio, Nicholas has appeared at Sydney Festival, Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels) and international festivals around Australia, New Zealand, North America, Canada and Europe. As a composer, he is published by Orpheus Music and has written for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Voices and other leading ensembles. Nicholas has also published a book and several academic articles on Australian-Chinese musical exchange. He currently teaches erhu, music theory, aural perception, and helps direct the Conservatorium’s very first Chinese Music Ensemble, which is a combined staff and student orchestra of 100-300 performers (nicholasng.com.au).
