and his charm. He delivers astonishing performances and he is a gifted vocalist with natural talent,
imagination and skill.
He’s been artistically inspired since a young age growing up in Mexico living on site at a mine where
his Father, an accomplished engineer, was working. During high school back in Australia while studying
piano, singing and acting at a performing arts center he began to write his own songs. By the time he
had graduated in 1989, Australian jazz icon James Morrison had discovered Darren and together they
began a decade of musical adventures all over the world.
Through his career, Darren’s dulcet tones have featured on numerous recordings, jingles and voiceovers.
He’s toured as a backing singer, and you’ll find him on the album credits for many other wellknown
Australian artists and on the final track of the highly acclaimed movie soundtrack to The
Sapphires.
Darren’s released several solo albums of original music, including his incredible vocal looping. He has
worked the music festival circuit and corporate arena since 2004 as Mr. Percival with his inspiring
projects ‘Out Of The Loop’ and ‘Microphones’.
Millions of Australians met Darren as he lit up their TV screens with his soul stirring performances on the
first season of The Voice where he was coached by Keith Urban and became the 2012 runner up. His
album ‘Happy Home’ debuted at number 3 on the ARIA chart and went Gold. Since, Darren sold out
his national tour and released critically acclaimed album, A Tribute To Ray Charles that he toured and
performed at special events and music festivals.
A life long dream became his reality in 2015 presenting his own radio program Up Close & Percival for
EON Broadcasters on The Sunshine Coast in Queensland where he lives with his young family. That year
of shows earned him an ACRA nomination for Best Newcomer On Air Provincial.
Currently enthralled with writing and recording music, producing original artists and jumping at every
opportunity to share the positive power in the ancient practice of spontaneously vocalizing. He
remains focused on creating spaces for singing with people of all ages from every corner of the world.
It is a 30 year long commitment to bringing inspiration, inner peace and a true sense of harmony to
help change the way people think about their own voices and how the bravery of singing together
makes us feel better. The word is out and the science is in: singing is good for our health, our heads
and our hearts.
There have been many quotes written about the man and his music. Ken Done summed it up in this
poignant manner - Few artists’ paint with sound – Darren Percival is art for the ears...
