Mariela Mulder is a saxophonist from the United States currently based in Sydney. She has toured internationally with Anthony Stanco & The Crucial Elements and is the first woman to travel to Saudi Arabia to play jazz. She has appeared at international festivals and venues like the Detroit International Jazz Festival (Detroit, MI), the Lord Kitchener Auditorium (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago), The Blue Note Amsterdam (Netherlands), and The Crypt (Cape Town, South Africa). She has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with jazz masters like Cecil Bridgewater, Wycliffe Gordon, Benny Golson, Joe Lovano, Bill Charlap, Jeff Hamilton, and Rodney Whitaker. In 2018 Mariela was awarded two DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards in the graduate category for “Outstanding Arrangement” and “Best Latin Ensemble.” In Australia Mariela frequently tours with Disco Revolution and has previously or currently performs with Pharos (formerly Sydney Women’s Jazz Collective), the Dave Panichi Big Band, the South Coast Big Band, DOBBY, and Reuben Kaye.
