Sue’s performance career has ranged from musicals such as Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon to chamber music for Musica Viva with the Windbags Quintet and orchestral appearances with the Australian World Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in conferences, including the 2018 ClarinetFest in Belgium, the 2013 Australasian Saxophone and Clarinet Conference, the 2011 Australian Clarinet and Saxophone Festival and the 2005 World Bass Clarinet Convention.
Sue has recorded for the ABC and Belgian Radio and made recordings with SSO, OAO, Sydney Alpha Ensemble, Seymour Group, Duo Contemporain and Clogs.
A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium, where she studied clarinet with Gabor Reeves, Sue was the recipient of an Australia Council Grant for postgraduate bass clarinet study with Professor Henri Bok at the Rotterdam Conservatorium in the Netherlands. She is in strong demand as a bass clarinet specialist and regularly collaborates with leading composers on new works for premiere performances.
Sue has lectured and delivered masterclasses in Australia and the Netherlands and has taught clarinet for the Newcastle Conservatorium and the University of New South Wales. Sue is currently Senior Lecturer in Clarinet at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The University of Sydney.
