WILLIAM JACKSON
William Jackson is currently Associate Artist with Synergy Percussion and the artistic director national percussion collective Nomad Percussion. William is a sought-after performer, educator and curator in the Australian classical and contemporary music sphere, performing regularly with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Sinfonia, Sydney Chamber Opera, Synergy Percussion, Halcyon, Chronology Arts, and the mallet percussion improvisation group Jackson/Pratt Mallet Project, among others. With Nomad Percussion he has directed two grand seasons (2012 – Debut, 2013 – transmute) along with a busy schedule of MATCHBOX listening concerts, including appearances at the Canberra Festival, You Are Here Festival, Aurora Festival, Make Music New York Festival (via video link), and others. Nomad Percussion have commissioned composers including Bree van Reyk, Peter Neville, Austin Bucket and Marcus Whale.
William is frequently engaged as an educator by the NSW Arts Unit, Sydney Youth Orchestras, Synergy Percussion and by primary and high schools around NSW and teaches casually at the University of New South Wales and within the Sydney Conservatorium Open Academy program. William commenced studies with Daryl Pratt in Sydney and then in Canberra with Gary France after beginning study at the Australian National University in 2009.
