Rising Stars Audition - Brass

Audition requirements for Brass players

Applications are now closed for entry into Rising Stars at the Con program for Semester 1, 2022.

Instruments welcome to apply are: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Euphonium.

Applications are invited from students who have been playing their instrument for at least two years and are over the age of 6.

Students are required to play:
1. Two contrasting pieces of your choice, not longer than 10 minutes together, showing a range of technical and musical skill. One study and one piece is recommended.

No piano accompaniment, scales, sight-reading or general knowledge is required. Applicants will be allocated an audition time between 4pm and 7pm on Tuesday 26th October. If there is a specific time that you will not be available, please inform us immediately to aid with scheduling –

Music Skills Diagnostic Assessment online 2021:
In addition to the instrumental audition, all successful applicants will be required to sit a Music Skills Diagnostic Assessment, which will be held online via Zoom. Attendance at this assessment is compulsory for all successful applicants. The assessment is used to determine the appropriate level of Music Skills class for each student. The result of this assessment has no impact on whether or not the student is offered a place.

Music Skills Assessment Date:
Wednesday 1st December, 5pm-6.30pm online.
