1. Video audition applications close on Friday 1st November. No applications will be accepted after this date.
2. Applicants who passed the video auditions will be notified by Friday 8th November.
3.Successful applicants will then be invited to participate in the live auditions on Tuesday 12th November. An individual audition timeslot will be allocated to you. If there is a specific time that you will not be available, please inform us immediately to aid with scheduling.

If there isn't a class to suit you, please the waiting list.

Audition requirements for Piano players

Instruments welcome to apply: Piano

Applications are now open for entry into Rising Stars at the Con program for Semester 1, 2020.

Applications are invited from students who have been playing their instrument for at least two years and are over the age of 6.

Round one: Video recording
Applicants are required to present two contrasting pieces of your own choice showing a range of musical and technical skill. The recording should be no longer than 10 minutes and recorded within the last two months. No edits permitted. The applicant should be visible, and hands clearly displayed throughout the video. Piano accompaniment is not required.

Please email your video file or url links (Vimeo, YouTube, google share drive) to If the video is not received by Friday 1st November, the applicant will not progress further and the fee will not be refunded.

Round two: Live audition
Players who pass the video audition are eligible to proceed to the live audition. Students should play two contrasting works; a study and a piece are recommended. No piano accompaniment is required.

The live auditions will take place on Tuesday 12th November, between 4pm – 7pm. Applicants will be notified via email and allocated a time within the range indicated.

Music Skills Diagnostic Test:
Applicants who pass the live auditions will be required to sit a Music Skills Diagnostic Test. Attendance is compulsory for all successful applicants. The test is used to determine which level of Music Skills classes the student should commence in. The result of this test has no impact on whether the student is offered a place.

Music Skills Test Date:
Thursday 28th November, from 4.30pm – 6.30pm at the Conservatorium. Please pencil this date into your diaries to ensure you are available if you pass the live audition.
