1. Video submission dates for applicants close on Friday 23rd October at 5pm. No applications will be accepted after this date.
2. Applicants who passed the video auditions will be notified by Friday 30th October.
3.Successful applicants will then be invited to participate in the live auditions which will take place on Saturday 7th November. An individual audition timeslot will be allocated to you. If there is a specific time that you will not be available, please inform us immediately to aid with scheduling.
4. Students who are successful in auditioning for the Rising Stars program are required to participate in the Music Skills Diagnostic Test which will be held online using the application Zoom, on Wednesday 2nd December, 5pm-6.30pm.

If there isn't a class to suit you, please the waiting list.

Audition requirements for String players

Instruments welcome to apply: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Harp, Classical Guitar.

Applications are now open for entry into Rising Stars at the Con program for Semester 1, 2021.

Eligibility:
Applications are invited from students who have been playing their instrument for at least three years and are over the age of 6.

Round one: Video recording
Applicants are required to present two contrasting pieces of your own choice showing a range of musical and technical skill. The recording should be no longer than 10 minutes and recorded within the last two months. No edits permitted. The applicant should be visible, and hands clearly displayed throughout the video. Piano accompaniment is not required.

Please email your video file or url links (Vimeo, YouTube, google share drive) to con.openacademy@sydney.edu.au. If the video is not received by 5pm on Friday 23rd October, the applicant will not progress further and the fee will not be refunded.

Round two: Live audition
Applicants who passed the video auditions will be notified by 5pm on Friday 30th October and will proceed to the live auditions. Students should play two contrasting works; a study and a piece are recommended. No piano accompaniment is required.

Music Skills Diagnostic Test online 2020:
Applicants who pass the live auditions will be required to sit a Music Skills Diagnostic Test, which will be held online via Zoom. Attendance is compulsory for all successful applicants. The test is used to determine which level of Music Skills classes the student should commence in. The result of this test has no impact on whether the student is offered a place.

Music Skills Test Date:
Wednesday 2nd December, 5pm-6.30pm online.
