Cathy Kerr

Cathy Kerr graduated from the University of Sydney with a degree in piano performance and then chose to pursue a career in music education. She has over twenty years experience as a teacher, working initially in the independent high school system and having taught in many prestigious Sydney schools. She has had the privilege of working with all age groups, from pre-school through to adults.
Cathy currently works as a freelance music educator, accompanist and choral conductor. She teaches courses at the Sydney Conservatorium Open Academy and the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. She has also worked with The Arts Unit, a specialist branch of the Department of Education and Training.
She very much enjoys her work as a consultant to community choirs wishing to develop strategies for improved music literacy and sightsinging skills. Cathy believes that learning should be fun, whilst aiming for serious results. Her aim is to bring the joy of music making to all her students, building their confidence through the acquisition of knowledge and performance opportunities.
