Qiongzi (Vicki) Zheng completed her Master of Music Performance and Doctor of Musical Arts at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney, Australia. She received the Margaret Henderson Scholarship in 2016, the Albert Scholarship in 2017, the Vice Chancellor Global Mobility Award in 2018, the University Postgraduate Award in 2019, and the Isabelle Paulette Career Development Award in 2024. She was also awarded the Best Presentation Award at the XVII International Conference on Creative and Performing Arts in Rome, Italy 2023.
Qiongzi is a disciple of Professor Zhao Manqin, a renowned guzheng master and educator in China. Over the years, she has performed at various music events in Australia, including solo performances at the Government House, chamber concerts, and other cultural and music events. Vicki teaches guzheng major in the Historically Informed Performance (HIP) Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. To further promote Chinese guzheng, she also offers courses for children, teenagers, and adults at the Open Academy. All courses are systematically structured, teaching scientific way of executing traditional and modern guzheng playing techniques and musical expressiveness.
