Benjamin Tjoa

Benjamin is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, receiving a Bachelor of Music Performance majoring in Violin, studying on scholarship with Alice Waten and Goetz Richter. He also holds a Bachelor of Music Performance as a trumpet major.
An avid orchestral player, Benjamin currently performs as a freelance musician with both the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and has been a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Program.
Equally fond of chamber music, he has performed with the Omega Ensemble, as well as being a member of string quartets that have given concerts in Australia, Europe and Asia. He is a founding member of the Pietra Quartet, which has won the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chamber Music Competition and received the Gerald Westheimer String Quartet Fellowship.
In addition to this, he has appeared as a soloist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra and Ensemble Nouveau, and has performed in masterclasses for Eberhard Feltz, Christian Tetzlaff, Vadim Gluzman, Baiba Skride, as well as the Takács, Borodin, Tokyo and Doric string quartets.
Benjamin currently teaches violin and chamber music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Rising Stars program, the Conservatorium High School and is also an ensemble director and instrumental teacher at Ravenswood School for Girls.
