Rafael Salgado

Rafael Salgado is a classically trained professional French horn player who performs in symphonic orchestras both internationally and in Australia. He graduated from the Academy National Superior de Orchestra of Lisbon (Portugal) under Abel Pereira (Principal horn NSO Washington) in the in 2006 before joining the Orchestra Filharmonia das Beiras as sub-principal horn. In Australia he has worked for Orchestra Victoria, the Canberra and Willoughby Symphony Orchestras and is currently working with the Opera Australia Orchestra.
His teaching commenced in music Academies in his native Portugal before coming to Australia where he is currently teaching in several Sydney schools including St Patrick’s College, Manly and the Open Academy and High School at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Rafael has over fifteen years' experience as a French horn and brass ensemble teacher. He puts a strong focus on technical skills as well as inspiring young musicians to pursue a lifelong love of music.
