Xiaoxu Aleta Shang is a young professional lyric-coloratura soprano. She completed a Bachelor of Music Studies, a Graduate Diploma of Music (performance) and a Master of Music (opera performance) with scholarships at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music. (Studying under Dr Anke Höppner-Ryan). The Roles she performed in opera include Emilie in Emilie by Kaija Saariaho; La princesse in L’enfant et Les Sortileges by Ravel; Hannchen in Die Opernprobe by Lortzing; La Fée in Cendrillon by Massenet. She has also performed in recitals (art songs and arias), opera gala, and chorus roles (Requiem by Mozart, Orfeo ed Euridice by Haydn, The Dream of Gerontius by Elgar, Alexander Nevsky by Prokofiev, Tosca by Puccini) in Australia and overseas. Aleta has tutored singing and piano for many years holding her own singing studio. She provides a personalised study plan for individual students, and is adept at improving opera voice, classical voice, jazz voice and popular voice, in addition to improving a student's diction.
