This exciting musical theatre course for students 15-22 years will cover musical theatre performance both as an ensemble and as a soloist.
Concentrating on
- vocal technique
- creating a character
- text interpretation
- telling the story
Students will learn how to bring characters to life. Whether working as a team in the ensemble or finding your spotlight as a soloist – you will be shown how to be your own detective and discover your characters story to tell.
Come and explore the genre of musical theatre in a fun and safe environment where classes will take place weekly and culminate in a themed cabaret that we will link together through solo songs and ensemble pieces worked on throughout the Term. Classes will focus on asking the right questions when it comes to creating the world of your character and the song they sing.
Led by industry professional and Conservatorium Music Theatre teacher Margi de Ferranti – we want every student to find their confidence in voice, whether it be more as themselves or behind a character. Material or songs worked on in class will be specifically catered to make all students feel comfortable and confident in presenting them.
An accompanist will join the class for the penultimate class and performance.
This is the ideal course for students wishing to progress further into their studies of Musical Theatre, potentially audition for tertiary studies or simply find more confidence in this field.
