Are you working towards an audition for a music theatre program or production? Be well-informed about the audition process and polish your presentation skills to give yourself an edge in this highly competitive field.
This 2.5 hour workshop includes tips on how to present audition videos, and techniques to use in a live audition. There will be the opportunity for some students to undertake a mock live audition* which will be critiqued by staff members from the Conservatorium’s music theatre department in front of your peers (this is optional).
This is an invaluable opportunity to ensure your optimum preparation for the audition process, whilst also providing insights into the Conservatorium’s music theatre degree program.
Note: this workshop is completely optional and is not a pre-requisite nor an official part of the audition process for any of the Conservatorium’s Bachelor or Diploma of Music degrees in music theatre.
MOCK AUDITIONS
For practicality purposes, we will be using the Conservatorium’s undergraduate music theatre audition format as a basis for the mock auditions. In order to get the most out of this workshop, we recommend familiarising yourself with the audition requirements, which can be found in the Undergraduate Audition Guide at https://app.getacceptd.com/sydneycon.
*Please note: due to time constraints, not everyone will be able to do a mock audition. The tutor will ask for volunteers on the day, and we will try to get through as many as possible – but if you miss out you will still learn a lot from observing others. If you do wish to try a mock audition, please bring a piano score for the accompanist.
