Students will be extending the knowledge and skills that they gained in the level 1 course.  By studying classic jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook and by many of the jazz masters, students will develop a deeper understanding of jazz harmony as well as melodies and rhythms unique to the jazz idiom. The skills of voicing chords and voice leading will be developed further as well as learning jazz language to help with improvisation and jazz feel. Different styles, including ballads, Latin feels, waltz time and swing, will also be explored.
