Auditions for Organ are planned to take place at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Saturday 23rd November from 2pm. This is subject to change

1. Applications close on Monday 21st October at 5pm.
2. An individual audition timeslot will be allocated to you once enrolments are complete.
3. Students who are successful in auditioning for the Rising Stars program are required to participate in the Music Skills Diagnostic Assessment which will be held at a later date. This assessment will not impact your place in the program and will only be used to assign students to the correct Music Skills classes for next year.

Eligibility: Applications are invited from advanced pianists (at least A Mus A level piano) as well as from any students already learning organ who will be in school Years 7 – 10 next year.

Students will be required to play (on piano or organ, as appropriate):
1. A piece of your choice (max 5-6 minutes duration – on piano or organ, as appropriate);
2. A prepared hymn in four-part harmony (music will be sent to you along with confirmation of your audition time)
You should play a short Introduction (“play-over”, not a spoken introduction) and then one verse of the hymn, as if accompanying a choir
3. Sight-read a hymn in 4-part harmony
4. Sight-read a very simple organ piece at the instrument (all necessary assistance will be given)

No technical work, piano accompaniment, or general knowledge is required. Applicants will be allocated an audition time within the time range indicated, and notified of this at a later date.

Beginner Shakuhachi Workshop

If you've always wanted to try the shakuhachi, now's your chance! Shakuhachi Master Bronwyn Kirkpatrick will present this workshop and demonstration introducing shakuhachi, the traditional Japanese bamboo flute.
