If you've always wanted to try the shakuhachi, now's your chance! Shakuhachi Master Bronwyn Kirkpatrick will present this workshop and demonstration introducing shakuhachi, the traditional Japanese bamboo flute. Rising Stars Audition - Jazz

How to apply All students must enrol in an audition to be considered to join the Rising Stars Program. Applications are invited from students who have been playing their instrument for at least 3 years and are over the age of 10. Backline and frontline instrumentalists are welcome to apply. This class is for Students auditioning to join the Rising Stars Jazz Program in 2026.

There are 2 rounds. A video round (due 5pm Monday 17th November), and a live round (held Monday 1st December from 330pm).

Please note, there is no in person activity on Monday 17th November. This is just the due date and time for your audition enrolment and video application to be received.

Videos should be uploaded to YouTube following the instructions provided below, and emailed to con.openacademy@sydney.edu.au.

Successful students will join the program from Semester 1 2026.
