Kids at the Con - Yellow Class

For 5-6 year olds In the Yellow class, children continue to experience beat, pitch, tempo, dynamics and structure through playing, singing and moving. Simple notation is introduced and rhythmic and aural elements become more complex. Ensemble work is explored in more detail. Kids at the Con - Green Class

For 6-7year olds In the Green class, children continue to experience the elements of music through singing, moving and playing. Conventional music notation is introduced including rhythm, bass and treble clef. Ensemble work broadens to 3–4 parts and aural training also reflects this with more difficult solfege and learning of songs in more than 1 part. Kids at the Con - Blue Class

For 7-10 year olds In the Blue class, conventional and graphic notation are explored and a broader range of rhythmic and pitch concepts are used. Building on solfege of previous levels, more challenging ensemble and aural activities are presented. Rising Stars Audition - Woodwind

This class is for students wishing to audition for the Conservatorium Open Academy Rising Stars Program. Students who have been playing their instrument for at least two years are welcome to apply. Applications for entry in Semester 2, 2017 are now open. Students are required to present two contrasting pieces of their choice, not longer than 10 minutes together, showing a range of technical and musical skill. One study and one piece are recommended. This session is for Rising Stars woodwind auditions only. Instruments welcome to apply are: Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Cor Anglais, Saxophone.

Your audition will fall between 4pm and 6pm on Thursday 25th May 2017. An individual audition timeslot will be allocated to you. You will be notified of your timeslot by COB of Monday 22nd May. Applications close on Sunday 21st May. If there is a specific time that you will not be available, please inform us immediately to aid with scheduling.

Woodwind applicants will also be required to present a prepared piece/excerpt, which will be sent to you by Thursday 4th May.

In addition to the instrumental audition, all successful applicants will be required to sit a Music Skills test. Attendance at this test is compulsory for all successful applicants. The compulsory Music Skills test will take place on Saturday 3rd June, 3pm-5pm at the Conservatorium. Please pencil this date into your diaries to ensure you are available if you pass the audition.

Kids at the Con - Orange Class

For 4-5 year olds Building on foundational elements developed in the Red class, children are introduced to the first 5 solfa notes (doh-soh). Activities for group interaction are also encouraged as well as some exploration into improvisation.
