For 6-7 year olds In the Green class, children continue to experience the elements of music through singing, moving and playing. Conventional music notation is introduced including rhythm, bass and treble clef. Ensemble work broadens to 3–4 parts and aural training also reflects this with more difficult solfege and learning of songs in more than 1 part. For 7-10 year olds The participants in this level bring a diversity of musical experiences to class as some have started learning a specific instrument, but others have not. All students share equally in experiencing and making music. Rising Stars Audition - Jazz

How to apply All students must enrol in an audition to be considered to join the Rising Stars Program. This class is for Students auditioning to join the Rising Stars Jazz Program in 2026.

There are 2 rounds. A video round (due 5pm Monday 17th November), and a live round (held Monday 1st December from 330pm).

Please note, there is no in person activity on Monday 17th November. This is just the due date and time for your audition enrolment and video application to be received.

Videos should be uploaded to YouTube following the instructions provided below, and emailed to con.openacademy@sydney.edu.au.

Successful students will join the program from Semester 1 2026.

Soul Ensemble -Audition

These classes are designed to introduce the student to a broad range of classic Soul and Rhythm ’n’ Blues music styles. Key features of this broad genre are revealed through the performance of historically important repertoire from the 1950s/60s/70s through to the present era. THIS IS A LIVE AUDITION - You will receive an email 1 week before the audition with your audition time.

** For adults (minimum age 16)

The fee for the 8 week term is $610. If you enrol for an audition by 12 January, you will only pay the Early Bird rate of $536.80 for the term (12% discount), providing you are successful at audition. If you are a full time student or hold a current pension/healthcare card you are eligible for a 15% discount. Call office for more info.

PLEASE NOTE: We will only audition positions that are vacant. Current students have first option to re-enrol. If there are no places available for your instrument, we will inform you and refund your audition fee.

Contemporary Vocal Studio - Audition

A short audition will be conducted for this course. You will need to enrol for the audition. Notification of your specific 10 min audition time will be sent the week prior to the audition date.

Once you have passed your audition you will be emailed a link to enrol in the term class. The fee for the 8 week term will be $520.
